Still Britain's most popular model railway monthly magazine with over 800 issues published since it was launched. Always at the very heart of the hobby, and justly proud of its policy to cover all the scales and gauges and topics of interest to both ready-to-run enthusiasts and kit and scratchbuilders alike.

Brunswick Yard
Coaching stock for the Clyre Valley Railway • TIM COULING explains how he adapted Parkside Models (ex-Ratio) Midland Railway clerestory coach sides to batch-build a fleet of passenger-carrying vehicles in OO9 for his freelance narrow gauge system.
Eyemouth • JOHN SPENCE describes how he modelled the terminus of this former North British Railway branch in Berwickshire, Scotland, which ran for three miles from Burnmouth, where there was a connection with the East Coast Main Line. Opening in 1891, primarily to serve the fishing port of Eyemouth on the North Sea coast, the line closed to all traffic in 1962. This portable N gauge model measures just 8' x 18".
Working road vehicles for Bournemouth West • One of the latest developments on this vast OO gauge exhibition layout, following its recent acquisition by Kevin Babey (see RM October 2024), has been the addition of working road vehicles. ASHLEY HAINES explains how it was achieved.
Kyle of Macallan MPD • ADRIAN WALBY constructed this compact shed scene in just 44" x 17", modelled in EM gauge. It takes its design cues from the former depot at Kyle of Lochalsh, a prototype that was described in detail in our March 2025 edition.

FROM THE ARCHIVE • TOBY JENNINGS delves into the RM Digital Archive to look back at historic issues of the magazine.
Birkenhead Priory • GRAHAM NICHOLAS describes this large OO gauge home-based layout, which was constructed in a spare room by his late friend and fellow modeller, PETER LAWSON .
Smallburn • BOB BRUCE explains how he built this compact, digitally controlled exhibition layout in OO with the assistance of his grandson, LOGAN BRUCE , who is 60 years his junior. Appropriately, this Scottishthemed model will be in action at the 60th anniversary Model Rail Scotland exhibition this March.
